More security for server admin access

A Data Center
From mid-January we will start a security offensive together with our server provider df.eu. Customers with their own server access are affected. Weak passwords must be replaced and access will be strictly monitored in the future.

Password strength control

All server access passwords will become invalid with the introduction of this change if they do not meet the following criteria:

  1. At least 8 characters
  2. At least one capital letter
  3. At least one lower case letter
  4. At least one special character
  5. No easily guessable words (e.g. username, date of birth)

If your current password does not meet these requirements, you will receive an e-mail with a link to set a new password.

Password entry control

If you enter the login password for the server access ten times incorrectly, it will expire automatically. We will receive an alert and you will receive an email with a link to reset your password, which will be valid for 24 hours. When resetting, the old password must not be used.

The amendments will come into force on 18.1.2017.

This should contribute to more security for the sensitive server logins.

We will be happy to answer any queries.
