Website maintenance
Why?
Maintenance protects: against errors, breakdowns and stress!
Why maintenance? – Because nobody wants nasty surprises, and we professionals make sure that they don’t happen in the first place.
Editable websites (content management systems) are software and therefore unfortunately potentially vulnerable. Regular updates, backups and security checks are the most effective protection against security vulnerabilities and system failures. Although there is no such thing as complete protection on the Internet, risks and consequential damage can be reliably avoided with consistent maintenance.
Up-to-date software also ensures maximum compatibility with modern browsers, devices and legal requirements. This keeps your website technically stable, legally compliant and performant – and protects your investment in the long term. You can concentrate on your core business while we keep an eye on the technology.

Why TBA? - Expertise that understands risks
Premium support and security
With our premium support, you have a dedicated contact person for all technical questions - someone who knows your system inside out thanks to ongoing maintenance. This saves you time and gives you fast, well-founded solutions.
At the same time, we protect your website with targeted security measures such as firewalls, security plug-ins and regular updates that also meet GDPR requirements.
Optimum performance
Fast loading times are crucial, both for your users and for your Google ranking. From the PRO package upwards, we continuously optimize your CMS settings, cache plug-ins and integrate content delivery networks (CDNs) on request for a smooth, stable user experience.
Regular backups & monitoring
Our automated backups save the database and files simultaneously as a "snapshot" so that your website can be restored quickly in the event of an emergency.
Our self-developed monitoring software monitors your website around the clock and automatically notifies us of any problems - so we can react immediately.
License costs included
For a number of commercial layout plug-ins (e.g. Content Builder) that we used as part of the project, we cover the annual license costs during an active maintenance contract. We will be happy to inform you transparently about which plug-ins this applies to.
Questions and answers
My website is up and running – Is maintenance unnecessary?
Not a good idea. Even if your website works technically flawlessly when it is handed over and any errors are rectified within the warranty period, the web is constantly evolving. Content management systems such as WordPress receive updates almost weekly – often with important security and stability improvements.
Without regular maintenance, the risk of security vulnerabilities, hacker attacks and potential GDPR breaches increases.
In addition, continuous maintenance keeps the technology up to date and familiar to the team in charge. This makes future enhancements easier and more cost-efficient.
Are the automatic updates from WordPress sufficient?
Yes, but not always. Automatic updates are generally useful and are used by us where they work stably. However, some updates require manual intervention and compatibility checks.
If automatic updates are not checked, they can cause unexpected problems – in the worst case, this can lead to a complete website failure.
When we look after your website, we detect such errors immediately and rectify them in a targeted manner to minimize downtime.
Are the provider’s automatic backups sufficient?
Often yes, but not always enough. Most hosting providers create regular backups, but these usually only go back a few days. If you want to restore an older version, you will quickly reach your limits.
In the event of major incidents, such as a complete failure of the data center (see fire at OVH 2021), an external, additional backup is valuable protection.
Can I take over the maintenance of my website myself?
Theoretically yes, but with restrictions. If you have sound technical knowledge (HTML, CSS, JS, FTP, CMS, server settings) and sufficient time, you can carry out many maintenance tasks yourself.
In practice, however, maintenance requires regular attention and disciplined implementation. Incorrect or half-hearted maintenance often leads to breakdowns, safety problems and subsequent repair costs.
If third parties intervene in the system without prior agreement, our guarantee for the originally created website may become void, as we no longer have any control over the changes made.
Is self-payment really cheaper? Not necessarily. Maintenance costs time and expertise. For us, it’s routine – for you, it may be an additional expense.
The value we provide lies in our expertise in resolving issues, the use of our in-house monitoring and technology tools, and our working time for manual interventions.

When does TBA not offer regular maintenance?
- Websites that were not created by TBA: Here we lack the necessary system knowledge. On request, we can check the status and prepare an individual offer.
- Longer time without maintenance: For outdated systems, a technical analysis is required in advance. We then offer a customized solution.
- Full admin access: If customers make changes on their own, we cannot provide a functional guarantee.
- Unknown modules or external API connections: We only offer limited maintenance for third-party modules or special integrations.
- Rare or unknown programming languages: Here we only offer basic maintenance.
Is it possible to interrupt/downgrade a maintenance plan and resume/upgrade it later if problems arise?
With us, maintenance does not work as a ‘hop on, hop off’ service, but rather like insurance – once it is no longer running, it cannot simply be resumed later for technical reasons. In addition, any existing customer conditions will no longer apply.
Likewise, for the same reasons, you cannot arbitrarily downgrade with us and simply upgrade again if necessary.
Do you still want external maintenance?
In exceptional cases, we offer our BASIC and PRO packages in a limited version – without a functional guarantee and without free repairs in the event of problems following updates.
Special features of e-commerce websites
Store systems require more intensive maintenance: they are more complex, more security-critical and legally more demanding (e.g. GDPR, payment providers, interfaces).
We therefore recommend at least our ADVANCED package or an individual solution with technical and strategic support for your store administration.
Are technical measures for accessibility included in the maintenance?
No. Accessibility as defined by EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.1 AA is not automatically part of our regular maintenance services. These requirements are only implemented if expressly commissioned.
