OS platform switched off – remove notice now
The EU finally shut down its online dispute resolution platform (ODR platform) on July 20, 2025. Until now, online entrepreneurs had to provide this link in the legal notice, in terms and conditions and sometimes in emails.
The reference should now be removed so that no dead link remains on your website and a possible new warning risk is prevented.
What is to be done?
- The sentence “The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution (OS) …”should be deleted from the legal notice, general terms and conditions and offer emails.
- All other legal notices, e.g. in accordance with the German Consumer Dispute Resolution Act (VSBG), remain unchanged.
Only certain regulated sectors are obliged to participate in arbitration, but all B2C companies are obliged to provide information on whether they are participating. In practice, the only thing that has changed here is the previous reference to the EU ODR platform, which no longer exists.
