Email mailbox configuration for TBA server MW-2

Have you already received the access data for your new e-mail inbox from us? Then you can get started:

Step 1: Change password (in the webmailer)

Be sure to change your temporary password first via the webmailer:

  1. Open our webmail at
    webmail.mittwald.de
  2. Log in with your email address and the temporary password
  3. Click on Settings (gear icon)
  4. Select Password
  5. Enter the old (temporary) password and your new password
  6. Save the change

Notes

The password you assign to the mailbox should not be easy to guess (no names, companies, birthdays, etc.) and should meet these conditions:

  • min. 12 characters (16 recommended)
  • min. one lowercase and uppercase letter (no umlauts, ä, ü, ö, ß…)
  • min. one number
  • min. one special character from these (no others): $ ! # % * + , – . ; _ : /

If you change the password, we will no longer know it. This is a good protection of your personal data (GDPR). In emergencies, we can always assign a new temporary password for you. However, you will notice this immediately, as you will then no longer be able to log in with your previous password.

Bonus tip: Until the settings have been changed on all devices, you can read and write your emails directly in this webmail program.

Step 2: Adjust device settings

Here is an overview of the required configuration data that your email program will ask for during setup. The designations may vary slightly depending on the software.

You can set up either an IMAP or a POP mailbox. There are small differences in behavior that are worth knowing. When in doubt, always use the IMAP mailbox settings:

For security, we recommend a final test: Send an email from this mailbox to this mailbox. If everything arrives, it works.

Alternatively, use our webmail directly. Simple, secure and available everywhere.

Troubleshooting

Most common problems:

  • The username cannot be freely chosen and is not your name. Instead, the email address of this account must always be entered here (or alternatively the mailbox ID, if you have been given it).
  • The server name (host) must always be mail.agenturserver.de for both receiving and sending.
  • The ports may not be set correctly. (On Apple, the ports are only visible when “Automatically manage connection settings” is deactivated; the default setting of the ports is sometimes incorrect on Apple).
  • SSL/TLS must be enabled.
  • The authentication method (selection) is always via “Password” for receiving and sending.
  • When copying/pasting the password, has a space perhaps been copied as well? As a precaution, type the password manually.
  • Are you unsure whether your password is correct? Simply check it in our webmail at webmail.mittwald.de. If the login is successful there, the password is correct.
  • It is best to create new folders in the webmail. Otherwise, make sure you have set the IMAP path prefix/root folder path of your email client to INBOX (enter in capital letters!). This is the only way to ensure that the folders and their contents are stored and synchronized correctly on the server.
  • If you create folders directly in the Apple Mail Client, never use periods in the folder name. This creates damage in the folder structure of your mailbox that is difficult to repair. If something like this has happened to you, please contact us, our server provider can try to repair it.
